Kguaboys

This is a youth group formed by 14 youngsters of Lopez Mateos during the summer of 2006. The Kguaboys get together weekly in their KguaClub to talk about sea turtle biology and conservation, as well as to organize activities to inform their community about the critical situation lived by the loggerhead near their community. Through cheerful songs, these youngsters have shared their message of conservation.
The Kguaboys know more about sea turtle biology than a lot of scientists. During the summer they are guides of the “proCaguama Visitor’s Center”, where they explain the loggerhead life cycle to the ecotourists visiting their community. Some of their plans for the future are: to visit the kinder gardens in Lopez Mateos and tell the children about the amazing adventure every loggerhead turtle lives while migrating from Japan to Baja California Sur .
Furthermore, the Kguaboys will to consolidate a network form by youngsters living in other communities of the peninsula, to promote sea turtle and natural resources conservation in a wider region.
