The
women's committee of Lopez Mateos is a group of women concerned
to preserve loggerhead sea turtles, as well as their natural resources.
This women association has as main goal to help changing the attitudes
that have a negative impact in their natural environment, for
positive ones. To pursue this goal, the Proyecto Caguama has facilitated
their participation in different workshops, such as recycling,
handicraft production and computing. Furthermore, as members of
proCaguama these women have acquired a deep knowledge about the
complex situation lived by the sea turtles in their community,
as well as how their everyday choices can make things better for
these animals.

The
women's committee of Lopez Mateos also participates in the organizing
and developing the different environmental education activities
carried out in their community. To mention some, they participate
in the selection the Sea Turtle Festival Queen, the setting
up of the Festival’s agenda, as well as the general organizing
to make from this event a successful one.
