A major objective of the network is to facilitate the development of
conservation leaders and to build a dynamic marine conservation
movement. Local leaders become the most compelling spokespeople for sea
turtle protection, and that experience can extend to the broader marine
environment. In this light, the grassroots conservation network, combined
with strategic academic, government and NGO alliances, is the foundation of our
approach. We build our conservation network by holding biannual group
meetings, offering connectivity grants to communities throughout our network,
and through organized recruiting events, including sea turtle festivals,
workshops and trainings.
